UNLV Foundation Distinguished Teach Award
Dear Dr. Krishen,
It gives me great pleasure to tell you that you have been selected to receive a UNLV Foundation Distinguished Teaching Award. A Committee of your peers examined the portfolio that you submitted and recommended you for the award.
The Number 1 goal in UNLV’s strategic plan is a commitment to student learning, and the quality of your portfolio shows your personal commitment to that goal. Excellence in teaching does not come easily. I know it represents a great deal of work on your part and that it is sometimes difficult to balance the needs of students with the other demands the University makes on your time and energies.
Disseminating examples of teaching excellence is as important as recognizing it through teaching awards. May we have your permission to share some of your teaching materials with the UNLV teaching community by posting them on the Instructional Development Research website? Specifically, we would like to post your article on contagious motivation.
With this Distinguished Teaching Award, the University is able to echo the praise of the many students who have been fortunate enough to take your classes and to say thank you for a job well done. I wish you well as you continue your good work with our students.
The award carries a $5,000 stipend (appropriate taxes will be deducted) which you will receive when you are honored at the 2015 Academic Achievement Gala on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, in the Student Union Ballroom. You will receive more information about this later.
Sincerely,
Gregory S. Brown
Vice Provost for Faculty, Policy, and Research
